It’s All In Our Mind !

Today’s Daily Prompt is – Divide  !

Whenever we, atleast I, think of the word ‘divide’ the first few thoughts which come to my mind are minus, loosing, sorrow, grief, enmity, war, rule etc. How can a word by all itself be so negative ! So when I thought once again about the word ‘divide’ , I realised that I have been unnecessarily too harsh with the word. There can be good things associated with the word too, like share, give, happiness etc.

As kids we have been always taught by our parents that divide and share your chocolates with siblings and friends. When we were adults we were told share and divide your sorrows with family and friends and it will vanish.

Thus dividing or divide is not bad at all. It’s all about the circumstances and the way we perceive it. It’s All In Our Mind !  Stay positive, stay happy.

Burning Down : A Real Incident !

This was real. We were staying in an extended stay hotel in Phoenix, United States that time. My husband had left for his office. I had just come back from my daily schedule of gym and was resting before taking bath. All of a sudden the fire alarms in the room started ringing, the lights started flickering. I heard a strong bang on my room door with a scream.. move out , move out !

I felt the earth was going down. I have to move out of the room as quickly as possible. The screaming is still going on outside my room. I was terrified. For a second it appeared as if it is the last day I have and I am all alone. Nothing much could be done the voice outside my room is still waiting for me to come out. So i just decided to carry my phone, in case I can make a last call to my husband and then I saw few dollars on the desk which I grabbed. That’s it . I left the room. People were running towards the exit and shouting at me “Run ! Run !” I just followed them towards the exit. The lights inside the hotel were gone by then. Thankfully we all came out of the building safely !

Ooh ! I am safe. But what about all my stuff that I had left inside, there are so many important documents , gadgets and what all. A tear rolled down my eyes. I gathered myself and thought of calling my husband. I was about to call him and then saw the Hotel Manager coming out happily towards us. Why is he smiling ? Is it because we all are safe or fire is controlled ? What is it !

He came n said , “Sorry ! But I am happy.” All of us were mum. We were waiting for him to complete. He said, ” I am sorry. You all had to undergo this trouble. But I am happy , there is no fire in the hotel. The team was just testing and by mistake they rang the fire alarm. I am happy, my team was able to take care of all the guests in such a panic situation. Instead of thinking about themselves they took care of all the guests. I am sorry again for the trouble I have caused. “

A laughter broke around and the sky was filled with the noise of everyone laughing around for the happiness of getting a life again, sound of congratulations to those brave hearts who took us out of the hotel and a joy of sharing humanity at times of need.  It was a family time with people we had met for the first time from different parts of the world.

Later I called my husband and told him about the great day I had.

Hello Goldilocks !

Honestly, the first thing I did was to search the exact meaning of “Goldilocks” online. I found a small story describing the principle of Goldilocks: a fairy-tale heroine who enters the house of the Three Bears and declares the possessions of Baby Bear to be ‘just right’, as compared to those of Father Bear and Mother Bear.

This story made me realize that I am unknowingly following the same principle for my life as well. This is absolutely me. My decision of “Just Right” is by removing the odd ones out.

10 Minute Challenge !

Write on anything that I can think of, the only condition is that I have 10 minutes. Sounds exciting! I have started with the challenge and yet unsure of what will follow. Since I am strictly following the rules of this game, my fingers are just typing and I am just flowing with them.

I feel I am back to school playing some fun game with my friends where we used to write name, place, animal and an object name starting with an alphabet and race who will win. This made us learn about a lot of places, a lot about animals and things and the ability to think fast. There were more games of such kind and I wish to play them with my friends again.

And now I can think of some quotes which I came across while reading or browsing internet:

1. This shall pass too. Good or Bad, everything will pass and other will come. It’s a vicious cycle of life.

2. Time is relativity. When u want it to stop, it runs. When you want it to run, it pause.

This ten minutes have been absolute fun for me. Numerous thoughts crossed my mind, many dreams have started floating again and by the end of this ten minutes I know I THINK TOO MUCH. 😛

Happy Blogging!

About a Girl.

http://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/futures-past/

I distinctly remember the day of our Career Counselling Workshop (2003). Each of us eagerly waiting to know whats going to happen. What made few of us more excited was to hear from the experts that ‘Engineering’ is not the only option. Sadly, till then the notion prevailed and I guess still the school authorities do … students with higher marks should pursue science and rest to opt for commerce or arts. I always felt this as utter non-sense.As far as I remember and the rumors went on that day none of us exactly knew what we want to be except one – Tanushree Bhargava (for us “Tanu”).The Counselor took some test and started calling each one of us to discuss in person. We were discussing among ourselves what its going to be inside and what they may tell us. The report will be seen by parents, so they must suggest something good.Amid all that hanky – panky, Tanu suddenly pops out: “I don’t care what anyone says, I want to be a Psychologist”. We all gave her a look, a nasty one may be!Its been a decade now and all of us are doing what we want to. But she is among those for whom I can say that she actually knew her dreams and followed it or may be she predicted it for herself ;-)After completing her Bachelors from Delhi University and Masters from BHU, Varanasi she started working in New Delhi, India. Today she is a famous independent Psychologist and a Holistic Healer. Yesterday she appeared as a guest in news channel as a Tarot Card Reader for predicting the results of 2014 LS Election. It felt amazing to see her there and realizing how determined she was in 2003! I too have a personal bend towards her because in her initial career days whatever she predicted for me was 101 % right. :-)Today when I sit and think of about her, I realised that how important it is to do what you want and be confident and determined towards your goal. She must have passed through many hurdles in these ten years but I never saw her moving backward. We generally like to follow things that are in popular culture rather thinking what we actually want to do. Everyone may not be Tanu, who exactly knows what he/she should do at all times but what we can learn from her to be focused on our dreams. She is a true example and a trendsetter of what determination and will can achieve. We ( all your DPS buddies) wish you loads of luck for all your future endeavors.
